OK, I get it that some folks see insects, rats, and snakes.

What I want to know is why those particular organisms.

I have had these "illusions" when withdrawing from pain killers after an accident.

Sure enough, same organisms, insects and snakes.

I am a middle class guy. I have never had insects or snakes in my environment, and yet those are the organisms I see.

Hasn't anyone ever asked why those particular organisms?

If we are all having illusions, why in the world aren't we seeing angels?

I don't think anyone knows why those particular organisms. But, it is funny that they are all the same.
No pink elephants, no angels, just the worst.
Any drunk can tell you this information. And, we tell the high paid doctors. And, when we ask them, they ask us are you seeing rats and snakes. We say yes, and they collect their paycheck telling us back, "Yup, Sure Enough, you are suffering from withdrawal." Thanks Doc. You can now go home and leave me with my delightful company.
