Nuclear Proliferation

I firmly believe the "nuclear proliferation" subject cannot effectively be discussed without including the highly controversial
construction of nuclear power plants.Unbelievably many "eco-extremists"
continue to propagate falsehoods about many aspects of the fossil fuel
industry. As I watch the out and out fear mongering and lies being
broadcast as truths from the Gulf deep water drilling debacle.no one can deny there was some degree of dereliction by all parties that had control of the drilling process. However, this problem is not endemic to
the process and the spill can be laid solidly at the feet of the people in charge! The contrast between "fossil fuels" and "nuclear
power plants" is gigantic because of the damage and recovery time in-
volved in accidents. I've worked in the oil industry all my life, from drilling,to servicing,to hauling oil and pipeline construction and I've been witness to how the Earth can repair and recover from oil and gas contamination. No'it's not overnight, but it's not the end of the world either,I live where the raw pollution of 60 years of all out oil production has virtually disappeared and air quality has GREATLY
improved since the 70s.Like it or not the components of "fossil fuels'
are in the total make-up of the Earth and after a few years following
oil and gas contamination the Earth miraculously sprouts vegetation at an accelerated rate compared to the non polluted areas! Can anyone say that a serious nuclear leak or even worse a nuclear melt
down will rectify itself or even allow human occupation in less than
75 to 100 years, if even then! I do not advocate a "total lack of
safety regulations in any field of energy production but I do advocate a common sense dialogue, free of strict unproven ideology
(global warming)and I believe the most controllable, available, and
cost effective fuel to keep the US leading the world is OIL!

Agree 100%, until such time as a safe alternative to fossil fuel is discovered, oil is far more acceptable to nuclear energy. I am glad British Columbia is a nuclear free Province. not everywhere is blessed with an abundance of natural gas and hydro power, but nuclear energy is one bad genie we can't affort to let out of the bottle. the way some people on this site speak of the virtue of nuclear power scare the hell out of me.

Power over the masses is what the truth is and the desire for wealth is why we are confounded today facing these issues . There are many examples of alternatives to fossil fuels and nuclear energy but that would change the hold of those industries in control of the wealth they want to have . How did mankind make it for thousands of years before this present time and now the world is dealing with such changes in the enviornment ,economy ,class structure , . Heres an example of a better use of technology Look up on you tube:Geet engine (unless you know already) and see what the potential could be for real change -its just one Idea.

Nuclear and Oil are not the only choice of energy, that the world is able to use,to heat, cool, power etc; The Sun and light are the major untapped sources we can harness,in some parts of the world this is occurring.
Water,Sun,Mirrors resulting in steam, which in turn is fed into Turbines which then generates electricity, clean, simple, available and totally carbon free.
Even if this system could be used on limited hours, days etc: what a saving,in costs over Oil,Gas,Coal, and pollution.

Naturally the profiteering oil companies are against this system, as they have been to any system that does not use their earth polluting products.
The earth may well heal it's self over time, but the environment and people suffer during the healing process.

Where you and I lived 60 years ago the population of the world was what? 3 billion, its now 7 billion. The demand for Oil ,Gas and coal is ever increasing, and will continue to increase, until such time Governments of our planet wake up,to non polluting energy sources.
The western or well off parts of the world are telling the other half of the world how well they live, naturally the other half want to live that way too. Which triggers ever increasing demand on Oil,Gas and Coal which creates the pollution.
The immediate problem is not the carbon producing products, which we can and will eventually eliminate. The most serious problem is WATER.Using power generated de-salination plants is NOT the answer.

How is the USA leading the world? Apart from using more energy than the rest of the world put together.
