Need LearStar specifications. In 1972 I designed and converted a Lockheed LearStar for Dr. Steve Schulke Orlando, Florida as a LearCamper in which he and his family flew around the world from east to west tracing the flight path of an early east-west around the world, world record flight.

Steve and his 17 year old son were killed in a T-34 accident in Lake County, FL in 1975. Steve was an enthusiastic pilot and owner of early aircraft including a Cavalier Mustang II; a Lockheed LearStar; a couple trainers, a T-6 Texan and a T-34; and a Sea Fury.

I am in the process of writing Steve Schulke's aviation story and need the LearStar specification for that work.

Any assistance is appreciated...

Thanks,

Al

Al,

I have a Learstar manual. What info do you need and what's your email address. I got some right seat time in Learstar MK II. Sweet plane and fast. Could overtake some King Airs.

Tell me more about the Lear Camper mods.

Hello Mark;

I know it has been a long time since you posted but I never received a notice of your post. I finally located Dr. Schulke's daughter and started new searches for information, data and pictures. The LearStar conversion to a LearCamper was quite a project for me and I covered it in my eBook about Steve Schulke's aviation history. You can access on my Website at URL http://www.wix.com/albarrs/usandfamilyhistory

Steve's daughter was 10-11 and went on the around the world flight with her parents and siblings. I am trying to see if she won't write an account of the actual trip so I can add it to my eBook, since I know little about the actual flight around the world the hard way, from east to west against prevailing winds.
