My wife's gr grandfather served in the 19th Infantry Regiment from 1867- 1870. We have a copy of his papers which show this, but give no information as to where he served during that period of time. The only reference is that he served during "the Indian wars". Is there any information available on where specifically the unit served during the indicated time period and what battles, if any, they may have participated in? The papers show he was discharged in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
