My six year old daughter asked me today, "If we make blood in our bone marrow, where does an animal without bones like an octopus make its blood?" I learned from searching that Octopi have hemocyanin disolved directly in their blood rather than having hemoglobin carried in red blood cells. So I guess I'm asking, "What part of an octopus makes hemocyanin?"
