Shih Tzu

My shitzu has always enjoyed rubbing her face in things like dirt, grass, stinky stuff. But now she seems to be doing it constantly, like something is bothering her. She also has wheezing and sneezing episodes where is almost sounds like she is choking, but she's not. It has been very hot where I live and a lot of people are reacting to allergies. Also, I admit to giving her little bits of human food for treats, but certainly not excessively. Her whole life she has been basically on a combination of raw and holistic foods. I am wondering if even these small amounts combined with weather can affect her like that. With the face rubbing so intense now, I wonder if she is trying to scratch her nose, like a human would. I suspect some of it is linked to diet, but I have never had a small dog before. Also, her tear stains are much darker than usual. But she doesn't appear to be in actual pain, just outbursts of discomfort. Can anyone share their experience and knowledge of shit zus and this type of behaviour with me? Thank you in advance

Sounds like allergies. Could be food or seasonal.
