My late father fought with the British army army during WW2.
He left the British army in the early 50s..came to Canada & joined the Royal Canadian Regiment (becoming a Cdn citizen)
He took early retirement in the early 80s. In 2002 we tried to get him into the Rideau Perly Veterans home in Ottawa. Much to our surprise ( & outrage..!) he was denied entry..the reason being that only Canadian veterans of WW2 qualified. Our appeal to VA was denied. We got him into a civilian residence & he died in 2003. For me this matter is still unresolved.
Is this objectionable policy still in effect..??
