My father, Frederick Lamar McPherson flew A1E planes for the 602 Fighter Squadron, Bien Hoa Air Force Base in Vietnam 1965-66. His plane was hit while on a flying mission and he has been unaccounted for since then. I would like to find any servicemen who may have been at the base at that time or who may have actually known my father.

Best,
Lisa McPherson

Lisa,

Our fathers were brothers, we are cousins.

When I was about five years old your father stayed with us for a while and we took some photos of him, my dad and others in the family. the year was about 1950 and he was in the Air Force at the time and had a motorcycle he rode but I believe he had not been in the service very long. I don't think he was married at the time, but I'm not sure. I would be happy to scan the photos and send them along to you if you would like them, just let me know and I'll attend to it.

Lisa:
I knew your father well. He was my commander at Calumet Air Force Station. I spent at lot time with him as my mentor and than my friend. I still think about him and the last time I saw in California before he was shipped to Vietnam. At the same time, I was part of an air wing that was also going to Vietnam. We thought we might get together, but are flight duties never gave us time. I found out about him when I came back to California and was in the squadron flight room when officer who was stationed at Bien Hoa came in for a briefing. When I asked if he new Mac, he told me what happen. Even after all these years it's still hard to believe it happen.
