My dad owns a magneto repair shop, he is 80 years old. He has a fairbanks morse magneto tester thats is in complete working order. It dates back to the early 1900's. We are wondering what the value might be, or if you would know of who to contact that might be interested in it.

Hello, i just saw this post so i don't know if you have received an answer yet or not. here is mine. i also have a magneto repair shop, i am in central florida. i have 5 magneto test benches which you mount the mag on and can then test the strength of the spark generated by the mag. the most common test benches were made by weidenhoff and allen. h.g. makelim also made benches out in california. all of the benches advertised in my fairbanks morse manuals are from makelim. bosch also made some benches. all of mine but one have a 6 cyl. spark rack. i have an aviation model that can test up to 14 spark leads. all of these are very heavy units and postage can be a big factor. i paid 1200 for my aviation model and it cost 600 in trucking from california to florida. i paid 50 for my weidenhoff but drove to pennsylvania to get it. i paid 550 for my makelim and had it shipped from california for almost 400. the 2 allen machines i have came with entire mag shops that i bought, one in arizona, the other in kansas. i have seen these things sell for up to 1500, just depends who needs one at the time it is being sold. there are not too many magneto men around anymore.

i would be very interested in purchasing your dad's shop when he is ready to retire. i do this as a hobby right now but would like to get more into it as i get older.

hope this info helps you out. feel free to contact me if you need any more assistance. my name is jeff kennedy, my email is kennedylynch@comcast.net and my phone # is 863-381-8035.

have a very nice Christmas
