My dad, James E. Humble (1914-1958) was levied into the XXIV Corps in time to be in on the invasion of Okinawa. One of which was his company being emplaced above Kadena Airfield when the Japanese suicide commandos made such a mess of things.
I've never seen a map of XXIV Corps dispositions, only very general maps of the landing beaches, etc. Does anyone have access to maps that detailed the Corps advances and captures? Are there any good histories that have that kind of info available?
