My children have two chukar that they are raising to put in fair this year. We were wondering when is breeding season and if there is a way to sex them?

In Pakistan they start layin in may. males have a slightly larger necklace extending down to the upper chest unlike the female whose necklace is closer to its neck. also the female is slightly smaller in size than the male.
