My Uncle (Cecil Owsley)lived in a house called "Holcroft" in Wadeford, Chard. Does anyone have any rcollection of this house, we thought it was a listed building atone time butI don't know if hat is really true. The Owsley family hawere Bakers and in fact that house still had the ovens in it when I was a young child. Any info would be so nice to have.

Thanks

Hi There

Cecil was my granddad not that I knew him as he died long before I appeared on the scene.

I think the building is grade 2 listed - it's now called Fforden nd changed the name from Halcraft.

I remember the oven in the sitting room, I left the house when I was seven.

May I ask whose daughter you are?!

Dear William:

Thank you for responding to my question. My Fathers name is Ronald George Owsley. Uncle Cecil is my Great Uncle. I was in the house the night he died. Aunty Phylis was very distraught and my Mother (Maureen Owsley ) and myself came from Backwell Farleigh (Somerset) to try and take care of her. Is Frank your Dad? Because my Father was in the army we travelled quite a bit so separated from the "Somerset" family in the mid sixties; however, we were in contact with Frank when we came back from Germany. I wanted to borrow his Rolls for my wedding. I see that Frank died in Norfolk - too young - and that is an irony because that's where my Father died too. Yes, Halcroft was a lovely place and that village was so quaint. Do you think you could keep in touch with me so we can compare notes...I am so interested in our family background. I live in Dallas, Texas - where do you live? My E mail is Sandraintx@Hughes.net

Sincerely,

Sandra
