My Son has a warrant for his arrest. He was arrested for retail theft & didn't show up for his court date. I live 2 hours away & will be taking him to the pd.

I was hoping to know what to expect when I bring him to the pd.

Is there any way of knowing if he will see a judge the same day? Is there a set time of day? Is there an average range of expected bail he will need to post?

Thanks for any help, I'm hoping to be able to wait for him instead of going back & forth.

Dan

Hello Dan, I've had bench warrants on individuals who have had retail theft. If he did not show up for his court date then it fail to repond. That would be the reason for the warrant. I do not know where you live but here in Pennsylvania if you do not show up for court then a bench warrant is issued for there arrest. If you do have a magistrate in your town that you live in, take him there. If he has a bench warrant they will drop the warrant and you must pay $ 50.00 for collateral. Then the magistrate will reschedule another hearing. If he does not show again, then another bench warrant may be issued for his arrest. More than likely your son has made a plee at the magistrate and the hearing would be a arraignment hearing to decide if he should pay a fine or do jail time for his crime, in which that would be the court hearing that he had missed. This time that you spend in the magistrates office could vary from 15 minutes to 2 hours, depends on the magistarate if he is backed up in court. I hope this helps you Dan,

I want to thank your for your reply. I have tried to respond sooner but was unable until I created an account a 2nd time??

We did attempt to address my Son's warrant super bowl Sunday after the game. My Son's car was not running at the time & I live 2 hours away.
I spoke with a trooper Sunday evening who advised me of what I might expect & what my Son needs to do. My Son needs to turn himself in (The sooner the better) between 9am & 5pm Mon-Fri.

Now that my Son's car is running he is able to do this without me. I'm trying to force him to take responsibility for himself. I do plan on attending court with him but I can not this for him.

I am calmer & feeling better having gained some knowledge.

I sincerely thank you & appreciate your informative response, Daniel Pinter
