My Great-grandfather was a member of Company A 55th Tennessee Infantry. I have a pension record that lists him as captured at Island Number 10 when the garrison surrendered. I would really like some information as to which Union prison he was taken to after the surrender. He was later discharged for ill health at Port Hudson in 1863. Information on which camp he was held in for the 8 months of his captivity would be of great help to me and my family.
If anyone knows this information please forward it to my e-mail at taylorwes@ymail.com
