My Grandfather Ernest Arthur Young lived in Cooktown for a period. He was listed as a blacksmith.
The earliest record I have of him in Cooktown is his marriage certificate dated 26 October 1901, when he married my grandmother Rose Boyle at St Mary's Church. They were married by Ignatius John Sugrue OSA a Roman Catholic Priest. Ernest was 31 (Born in Camden) and Rose was 25 (born in Londonderry Ireland)
My mother, Philomena Marie Young was born in Cooktown on 11 October 1915 when they were living in Charlotte St. She had 2 older siblings at the time Ernest Henry aged 11 and Clive Valentine aged 8.
Ernest and Rose were on the Cooktown electoral roll in 1919. The next record I can find is the 1925 electoral roll when they lived in Brisbane.
