In reading the Ivor Miller book, Voice of the Leopard, I realized that the Calabar region borders the Cameroons (Cameroon?) and that Miller specifically mentions the distribution of the Ekpe societies including the Cameroons. So I pulled out several albums I have of Cameroon music, mostly recorded in the 50s and 60s (Ethnic Folkways [now Smithsonian, I think] and OCORA). I would love to discuss this traditional West African music, mostly Bamoun and Bafut peoples', in relation to Miller's book and Cuban music.
