Roland Orzabal, David Bowie, Kraftwerk and Roxy Music influenced the first wave of British synthpop.

ORZABAL: Became a classic rock legend as me to be an member of Tears for Fears and uh...the record company is Mercury. I was influenced by The Beatles, David Bowie and Talking Heads and also that fact is to creating music sessions when I was young in 1985 with Curt Smith and his second album, "Songs from the Big Chair".

By 1981, Orzabal and Smith were becoming more influenced by artists such as Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel and Brian Eno.

The classic rock stations recreate the sound of Album Oriented Rock (AOR) stations of the 60s-90s (although usually with a much more limited playlist) and appeal mainly to adults, rather than teenagers.[1] Some classic-rock stations also play a limited number of current releases which are stylistically consistent with the station's sound, such as fitting the vibe of the other rock music, or from established classic rock core artists that are still producing new albums.[1]

ORZABAL: Classic rock bands will be Black Sabbath, Yes, Foreigner, Styx and Bad Company are rock music and that's it. And they were um...legends against this time back together we like the three decades of rock music in Great Britian.
