I remember this song from the 1940s but the chorus was "We are the moor soldiers, marching with our spades, to our graves" it was on a record given to me by a jewish girl who had escaped Germany. she explained that the men were going to the moor to dig their own graves before they were shot. Was this the original song or had the singers on that particular record changed it. Thanks for any help. Salem
