Max and Ruby

Max and Ruby is one of my daughter's favorite shows, however as a parent I have a question that has been bothering me and I find it disturbing that a children's cartoon would not be totally appropriate for teaching children morals and ethics. My question is where are Max and Ruby's parents and why would 2 children rabbits be left home alone to take care of themselves. Ruby obviously is not old enough to be responsible for herself let alone her little brother. If they don't have parents living then why isn't their grandmother living with them and caring them in that house rather than down the street.
