After browsing through the Nguna Pele Marine Protected Area website photo gallery(http://www.marineprotectedarea.com.vu/gallery.htm) I am impressed by the flourishing flora and fauna. Another place I think deserves mention is the Makatea Marine Sanctuary on Emae island. This area has been declared a Marine Protected Area since 2005 and now it is absolutely teeming with all forms of marine life!! The different ecosystems of the area from the seagrass beds to the coral reefs allow a diverse range of marine life (i.e. dugongs, sting rays, giant clams, turtles, sharks, coconut crabs, lobsters etc etc). Not only that but the spawning of Palolo worms along its shores (around September/October) attracts thousands of fish, sharks and all sorts of marine wildlife to this area.
