MCAS Futenma was used as a supply hub during the Vietnam conflict. An item of concern is Agent Orange. Although US government denies the storage I know barrels were recieved for transportation to Nam and for dispositon when the rucuss was winding down. The presence was there even after 1975 for barrels to be disposed of. They were sent to Guam or some other destination. I have been looking for pics or written evidence. The key factor is the presence through 1974 or 1975 at MCAS Futenma. Squadrons that were envolved with use and transport for use in Nam were UH1N, CH-46, CH-53, and C-130's. The staging area was MAG-36 Group Supply. Quanties were small during this time since most prepostion areas were Guam or strategically placed for immediate use in Nam. Nonetheless, presence on Okinawa was factual since the commands also used this substance for parimeter defoilage around bases, flight line, etc.. Where can I find some information regarding A.O. on MCAS Futenma.

Thanks,

Carlos

Carlos, Your information is invaluable. A Facebook group called Agent Orange Okinawa is on top of this and needs any info you can provide. There are photos of Agent Orange Barrels on Okinawa- more than one. at least one VA claim has been paid for AO on Okinawa. Now we need actual witness statements to move forward. DOD denies everything and documents were destroyed. A journalist named Jon Mitchell is also investigating. If anyone has any info, Please share it. It will help hundreds if not thousands of vets.
