F/Sgt Zygmunt Stefan Galazka Service No704885, born 18th June 1917, is unlikely to have served at RAF Benbecula as 304 Squadron did not serve there until September 1944. He was in the squadron in the early part of the war but could only have served at RAF Bramcote, RAF Syerston or RAF Lindholme (or all three). He retrained as a fighter pilot and joined 302 Squadron at some point and was shot down and killed over Northern France on 31stMay 1942. He was flying a Supermarine Spitfire Vb (possibly BL677)and was shot down by Focke Wolf 190 fighters from JG26
