I have lived on Adak for a period of two years. Two single years.
I just read that there are no radio stations there, and only short wave or satellite are available.
I used to listen to three, regular, standard broadcast bands.
1)AFRS (Military, obviously no longer avail. 2)Del Rio, Texas.
3)Waterloo, Ioway. Nos 2 & 3 were limited to nighttime, but they were there, loud and clear on a $10 table radio, tube type. The one in Iowa was a truck stop of some sort, as they would pass personal messages to truck drivers.
As an aside, Adak is listed as the far west point of the USA. What about Attu, is no one out there anymore? I'll bet there are Inuits out near there if not there.!
