Perhaps its not me thats in denial but rather you are too eager to believe, too gullible. If I showed you video and photographs of a 10 headed goat and said I saw it with my own eyes would you believe it exists(if you said no than why believe in UFOs). Mathematically the goat would be millions of times more plausible than an ET anyway. And also, do you realize how technologically advanced media editing software is now! And the astronaut's testimony you are talking about came from a man that believed in UFOs and science fiction before he ever became an astronaut. And why would it not be common knowledge? What reason would the government have to keep it under raps(and don't say "to avoid panic")? And finally, the ancient paintings. This is very easily dis proven as it is simply your interpretation of that painting. The artist never said "this is a space man". How do you know the artist did not have something completely different in mind? Maybe to you it looked like a spaceship. I am telling you, THERE IS NO PROOF(not yet). I know I said this before but if and when extraterrestrials visit earth, YOU WILL HEAR ABOUT IT! It wont be something that half the population believes or thought they saw on the cover of a trashy magazine. It will be written in our history books:
Year 1969- man walks on the moon
Year XXXX- first contact with an alien being
***don't believe everything on the internet and TV***

Haha, you are right. But the person who started the forum asked "is there life on other planets?", not have ETs visited earth. Perhaps you should ask yourself why you are here too =P(and don't you want to hear both sides of the argument, I'm not saying one person is wrong or right, JUST LOOK AT THE PROOF{or lack there of}). I believe there is other life in the universe but the chances of them making it to earth is astronomical!

Found something very interesting though. This is an equation used to estimate the potential number of extraterrestrial civilizations in the Milky Way galaxy! The equation was devised by Frank Drake in 1961

"The Drake equation states that:

N = R* x fp x ne x fl x fi x fc x L

where:

N = the number of civilizations in our galaxy with which communication might be possible;

and

R* = the average rate of star formation per year in our galaxy
fp = the fraction of those stars that have planets
ne = the average number of planets that can potentially support life per star that has planets
fℓ = the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop life at some point
fi = the fraction of the above that actually go on to develop intelligent life
fc = the fraction of civilizations that develop a technology that releases detectable signs of their existence into space
L = the length of time such civilizations release detectable signals into space.[3]

R factor

One can question why the number of civilizations should be proportional to the star formation rate, though this makes technical sense. (The product of all the terms except L tells how many new communicating civilizations are born each year. Then you multiply by the lifetime to get the expected number. For example, if an average of 0.01 new civilizations are born each year, and they each last 500 years on the average, then on the average 5 will exist at any time.) The original Drake Equation can be extended to a more realistic model, where the equation uses not the number of stars that are forming now, but those that were forming several billion years ago. The alternate formulation, in terms of the number of stars in the galaxy, is easier to explain and understand, but implicitly assumes the star formation rate is constant over the life of the galaxy."

Lots of hard core figuring from outside the box looking in. However, to answer the question of life on other planets. there is evidence of previous humanoid civilizations on mars and circumstantial evidence of humanoid civilization on Venus before it was destroyed.but looking for microbes and evolution theory will not get us anywhere-only failure.
Presently there are only visiting space people who stop on planets and moons temporarily- Not living there permanently. And as you already know- our planets are not in good enough shape right now for us to have much advantage to live on them without advanced technology.

We as human beings are so vain to believe that we stand alone in the cosmos as the only intellegent beings. The earth is surrounded with an atmosphere, so it's like a bubble in space, like a bubble in the oceans. So imagin all the bubbles in the all the oceans. Do you really believe that out of all the bubbles we are the only bubble that supports life?
Now if you believe that maybe life does exist on other planets, (bubbles in space) don't you think, maybe that life on their planet started millions of years before ours did. And they are very advanced in tecnology. and can travel in space as we travel our skys. And they study us as we study our indigenous animals of our planet. The higher your intellengence, the more likely you are to believe in life elsewhere.

Personally I think it would not make any sense if our planet was the only planet with life.

At some place in the Universe there must be a planet which is at an adequate distance with its parent star to inhibit and harbour life on it. Its only a matter of time to find that Planet

I bet a Neanderthal looked up and wondered. I do every night. I live far enough away from "civilization" to see many stars, the Milky Way's band or stars across the sky...all those stars and all those planets! We can't even see them, yet we know they are there. Our solar system is a tiny speck in the greater universe which stretches far beyond our ability to "see"...

Who is looking back? Looking at us so far away not even the light from our insignificant
sun can be seen wondering the same thing and asking the same questions.

We will never know. It is too bad we will never know. Like the Mozart we will never hear or the images Ansel Adams could have created and we will never see. What another civilization could offer us in exchange to the beauty we have to bestow upon them, we will never know.

To bad,so sad this Universe is so large...never ending.

First I want to say That is is an honor.

Yes, there would have to be life on other planets(Worlds),
the question in other planets exist as well about weather there is life on this planet, I'm certain-even to the extent, that we may have to ask ourselves if this planet may even be an advancement to any of the planets we lived in prior to comming to this one when we were discarnates.

Yes I believe when we leave our bodies in this planet-we will enter the next planet, and when we leave that planet we will be born in the next untill we complete all of the nine planets in our solar system-thus exiting into another soloar system through the sun-since we are pure energy.

I'm sure others have been here, in the past, at least. If you think about it though....look what humanity has become and how destructive and hateful we are now. Why would they even want to make their presence known if they were or are here. We are gallivanting around the universe, is it so hard to believe that some small particle of living matter wasn't picked up along the way and then dropped, possibly on that ice cap at Mars, which may someday thaw and become an emeba that over time could evolve into an intelligent life form? Or that maybe by doing the research that we are doing, and disturbing planetary surfaces, there isn't the distinct possibility of setting off a reaction causing life to form that could thrive in that environment? Would that make us Gods? How do we know it hasn't been done before?....Here on Earth

When I imagine the day in which our designers bought us here
in their individual flying vehicles- as though an experiment which was yet in progress-geneticaally implementing our alterations to comform to our adaptability to this planet-it is remarckable, in that they were succsesful in their design.

Once their design of us was completed-we were given a soul which would be housed as a holegram in our minds for recognition of our existance-with the ability to learn how to teach ourselves, as well as progress efficiently through our evolution.

If its a questions of there being carbon based life on other planets than it is very tough to say. We only know of one planet in the entire universe(Earth) that supports life and there is no substantial proof to suggest otherwise. People saying that there has to be life due to the sheer size and immensity of the universe or that its "against the odds" for there not to be life are incorrect as we would need at least one other planet with life to accurately calculate the possibilities of life on other planets(lets not forget our good friend math). That being said, we haven't even come close to exploring even the tiniest fraction of the known universe. I personally believe that there could be life on other planets, however primitive but I like to think that intelligent life is something very rare and special. What are the odds that we would evolve into what we are today...

Hi All,
Haven't used this site for a while. It is considered probably tht there are bacteria at least in a couple of the moons in our solar system, but intelligent life, as was suggested, is a different matter. To calculate whether there is life we would really need to know the exact conditions which engendered the first life on earth, and this is still speculation.Did it for instance involve a lightnihg strike to activate it, A sudden change from neg to pos ions, or a reversal of the earth's polarity?
An age old question is if there is intelligent life why hasn't it conquered space and already arrived here? There are a few reasons. I vast distances, 2 perhaps it didn't want to explore space, and 3 perhaps its technology is so advanced that it could be observing us without our knowing it, and the most advanced race is inhibiting those that have a lesser tecnology from interfering with us. Just some thoughts.

Like many books based on science fiction-which are based on theory, we should approach this matter.

There probably aren't tomatoes there because there are other types of fule for the anatomical model which we will wear when we graduate to that planet.

We are naive to believe that if there are an infinite number of planets out there that we are the only form of life. As to why, if there is life, haven't they dropped in on us to say hi; why would they? Take a look at our planet and the people, war, poverty, illness, you name it. It'd be like someone from Beverly Hills going to El Monte. If you like, read the late Carl Sagan's book on life in space. Just because we don't have the technology to travel to another galaxy or whatever, doesn't mean some other life form doesn't. We go by our understandings of how life is formed, our understanding of physics, etc. But those are just our understandings. Like the saying goes, "you don't know what you don't know." Will we ever encounter aliens? Probably someday but not anytime soon. Compared to the universe, we are just newborn babies in the universe. Never say Never! Those of you using math to predict whether there is life or not, most people know that mathematics can be used in many different ways. Some can use it to prove there is no life and others can use it to prove that there probably is life out there. Einstein had a theory about folding space but he never figured out how it could be done. No one can say 100% there is or isn't life out there. It won't be until the day either they visit us or we visit them, or we find nothing out there but that's pretty much impossible since there are billions of planets out there that would have to be explored.

I had signed onto this blog hoping for an intelligent forum to discuss the very serious subject of the possibility of life on other planets. Unfortunately, too many posters are really impostors! Armed with such little knowledge and just wasting our time...I think they should take another Vicodin and let the rest of us have a serious discussion.

Why, just today US Scientists announced that they have discovered an earth like planet just 20 light years away that they believe is habitable. One of the scientists concluded that finding a planet so close and so fast, he is convinced that the probability of life elsewhere is 100%!

I have a distinct disadvantage over most of you in that I have had a double lung transplant and had severe complications, causing me to have to deal with the reality that I will not see the end of this decade...in fact i have just a 45% chance of seeing 2013....

But my point is, that before my transplant, I doubted I would see life on other planets be a reality in my life time. But now I am convinced that despite my shortened life expectancy, I will definitely see confirmation of life on other planets, probably within the next year.

Have you noticed the actions of governments and even the Vatican over the past 9 months or so? First, the Vatican announces that belief in extraterrestrials is not in conflict with the Roman Catholic faith. Then just the other day, the UN appointed a person to be "The Contact" in the event of a "visit" from Extraterrestrials!

I believe the United States Congress recently took similar action as to who would speak on behalf of the science community (I could be mistaken on the specifics on this one)....

but in any event, does anyone else think it's awfully coincidental that these moves were made and we are now receiving hard evidence that the probability of life on other planets is 100%? That, according to the scientists who reported the finding yesterday of the "Earth-like" planet orbiting the Red Dwarf just 20 light years away from Earth.

“I have been convinced for a long time that the flying saucers are real and interplanetary. In other words we are being watched by beings from outer space." This was said by Albert M. Chop. I agree with this statement it has been proven that there is life on other planets but there is nothing to prove that it is intelligent life.

Astronauts launch themselves into space to help us understand life in space. Every step of every day takes us closer to finding life on other planets. It has been proved philosophically and scientifically that there is life on other planets. We do not yet know if the life is intelligent or not. I don’t believe that the life is intelligent because it is impossible for man kind to be replicated, including our wisdom. From a religious point of view, if there was life on other planets then there would have to be another God unless God had made another civilisation on another planet.

Lord Rees, Britain’s astronomer Royal, has said that the discovery of aliens would change people’s lives. Personally I think that it would drive us into a frenzy to try and find the life. This would mean that taxes would go up and normal everyday people who don’t care about life being found on other planets would have to pay thousands over a certain amount of time. The money would go straight to the government and they would use it to pay for the rockets to be launched into space.

Some people say that believing in space is completely stupid they think that people on other planets don’t exist. In my opinion these people are wrong, there is life out there, and we are only one galaxy in amongst thousands. There must be other creatures out in the other galaxies.

Many scientists think it is possible that there is life elsewhere in the Universe, but that finding it may prove difficult.

First of all, we don't know exactly what form life on other planets outside our solar system might take, so it is difficult to know how to search for it. Second, the universe is a big place, and radio signals (and space vehicles) travel too slowly to allow us to find life that is very far away.

We do know something about the conditions on Mars, the planet in our solar system which is most likely to have life, and it turns out to be similar to the conditions in Antarctica (except for the lack of oxygen).

So we can guess what forms of life might be able to survive there, and there are projects under way that will someday send machines to Mars which can look for these kinds of life.

There may be no little green men living in our Solar System. However, there are plenty of places where more primitive life might be able to survive.

Many astronomers now believe that life has a good chance of evolving wherever the conditions are right. So our Solar System could be teeming with living creatures!

I am one of the fortunate few, contrary to what one of our previous bloggers has stated, who has taken very recently a genuine photo of which has at least a 90% chance for a variety of reasons, to be what I have called an ESC (Extra-terrestial Space Craft). This has totally reversed my previous interest in such matters because if there is a craft of such sophistication then there has to be a civilisation of superior intellect to ours elsewhere in the Universe (I doubt though within our planetary system). What is a frightening thought to some actually gave me an enormous amount of comfort because now we can aspire to ESCape from this planet and all its potential dangers and procreate elsewhere and so ensure the continuation of the human species.

One further thought - now that I have personal evidence of this ESC, I took to thinking more seriously about other pointers to confirming the existence of other civilisations and came up with the following which are not as sophisticated as some of points I have read here but contain some further evidence pointing towards the existence of far more advanced civilisations than ourselves - and as Sherlock Holmes stated "When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth".

1 It is mathematically impossible for there not to be living organisms elsewhere in the Universe. Therefore (?) :

Probability of other civilisations 95%
Probability of more advanced civilisations 50%

2 References, anecdotes, drawings and paintings of UFO's have cropped up as far back as the 1200's. Are these all the result of fraud or vivid and futuristic maginations?

3 Fom a very low knowledge and technology base, how did the many and diverse skills and sciences involved in building, inter alia, the Pyramids (Egyptian and Mayan) individually take seed; achieve such high standards; go from theoretical to practical; and ultimately be woven together – all in such relatively short periods of time when there is little or no evidence that the peoples involved were anywhere near as advanced in other life sciences?

Even more puzzling is how these astronomical (literally) and very precise engineering feats were achieved without a broad-based educational pool; higher learning centres; the printing press and other communication media; sophisticated calculation, data storage and retrieval mechanisms; survey equipment; telescopes (Hail, Galileo); explosives etc.

Innate intelligence forms part of the racial, national and individual DNA. Forgive me for defaming them but why hasn't this filtered through in any significant measure in those nations to the present day?

4.Many world renowned landmarks would be impossible – or next to impossible - to recreate today logistically let alone many 100's/1000 (s) of years ago.

The Romans, who were the technical and logistical masters of their time (close to a 1000 years of development) did not have the various knowledge sets even if they had had the will and other skills to build such monuments (but despite the Goths, Dark Ages etc etc still retain a markedly Engineering bent in their Society).

5 There are numerous reports of UFO sightings witnessed by many people at the same time and even supported with photo/video footage

Possibility of all being invalid 0%

6 Many individual UFO sightings which may or may not be backed by photographic evidence are reported by mature and prima facie sane and responsible citizens – among them 1200 by pilots of whom over 50 had their instruments affected by electro-magnetism - a probable energy source for such craft.

Ally this to the probability of electro-magnetism playing a major role in respect of the 1992 Space Shuttle sighting/video and ....

Possibility of everything being invalid 0%

How much longer can these reports can be ignored or treated as coming from delusional or illusory sources?

If the craft exist, so do the species in control of them.

I was a child,
When I had my first personal experience with an entity which unraveled from a ball of light-pretty unusual for that TIME (1971)when I was 11 years old.

The ball of light was about the size of a basketball, when it entered through my bedroom window, and after moving over my bedroom wall-it went into my bedroom closet.

At this point I was in a state of paralysis-so there was nothing I could do-as the entity approached me with prune like skin probably do to all the light they absorb;I became completely terrified.

I cursed at it out of fear in hope to scream-but I could only mumble-as it spoke to me in my mind, telling me that "it wasn't nice for young men to curse". I left my body at that precise moment, and exit through my bedroom cieling.

While on a flying horse, which took me into space, where we then entered a planet just like this one-there were tumble weeds there, and silohuette images inside the ruins, which exist there-to make it short-when we return to earth we entered through the bedroom cieling, to find the entity stil in my bedromm.

As the entity went through my dresser drawers-a light came in from the sky through my window, and it struck the entity-it became as fire, and went up into that light.

Some weeks later I developed blood clotting like swells throughout my body.

God created all of us and all space aliens. There is plenty of evidence that aliens are hanging around. They sometimes stop on other planets, but they are not from our solar system.
Our humanoid species was brought from the constellation Pleiades.
Beware of those from the solar system of Sirius-they are conquerers.
But we are well protected by other space people from Orion, Vega, Arcturus and Pleiades.

As we think we understand the universe; it would be foolish to believe that life does not exist on other planets; but then again maybe everything we see doesn't even exist at all.
I have been doing a technique were I close my eyes and try and see backwards into the darkness of my mind. As I stare and concentrate long enough into the darkness, I begin to see a point of light in the distance. I then Concentrate on that point of light, and try and get a closer look at it. It is very easy to lose that point of light if I do not continuously keep focused on it. When I do manage to stay focused and curious of it, it begins to come closer to tell a visual story. Here is what I've experienced and learned from one of these experiences...
I was seeing that we were living an illusion, which is all taking place on a atomic membrane which exists at an intersection where many crisscrossing beams of light meet at a single point. What we may experience and perceive to be our human lives; may actually be an infinite combination of reflections these lights emit as they pass threw the layers within this membrane. This allows us to construct an infinite combination of visual holographic life experiences. The powerful beams of light also rotate around, sort of like a bicycle tires spinning spokes. This allows us to experience emotions, sound and feel. What we are experiencing as our human lifetime, is only occurring in a small fraction of time. The reason some of us get deja vu, or can see the future or the past, is because an occasional vibration within the membrane which is caused by these colliding light particles, will either shift our existence on this membrane forward or backward, distorting the illusion like a record that has skipped. Some of us get caught up in a continuous vibration and live the whole experience totally confused, or what we think of as mental retardation. Now some of you may think I am experiencing one of these continuous vibrations myself, but I am only describing an experience here so bare with me !

Who is capable of creating this complex piece of technology I saw? I got the impression that Mankind may soon know. I got the impression that we will evolve in this illusion to a point were our advancing technology finally figures it all out; and at that point the whole illusion will come to an abrupt end... What happens after this, I couldn't tell you; the visual story suddenly ended.

Those three ingredients you mention only describe life as we understand it; and not what most life may or may not consist of.
Remember that rock from one of the old episodes of star trek? You know; the rock that was screaming in pain! Who's to say? I think we have some of those right here on earth. They are called the hard headed ones!

Hate to break it to you but evolution is NOT a theory... its fact. Just like 1+1=2. And there is ZERO proof that we have had any contact with extraterrestrial life(unfortunately). If you honestly beleive all of this nonsense about that "Our humanoid species was brought from the constellation Pleiades" please show proof of this. Maybe we should contact the major television networks and make sure everyone is aware of your groundbreaking research... you did research this, didn't you?(FYI, sarcasm) Or are you you just spewing your own crack-pot(emphasis on the pot... and the crack) theories. I truly hope there is life on other planets, no matter how insignificant. Like I had said before, there is no proof that any ET life has made it to earth or even contacted us, despite all the claimed "sitings". But trust me. If we were ever contact by anything from another world, WE WOULD HEAR ABOUT IT! If/when it happens, it will go down in history as one of the greatest discoveries of humanity! We will learn about it in history class at school. So no, we haven't been visited by ETs but I think that life could exist in other regions of the universe. I have always thought humans were kind of a fluke though. Whats the chances that the same scenario has played out on another planet and some how we evolved to be able to change our surroundings. The odds are astronomical

No, there is no truth in evolution at all. Scientists of today are clever at explaining lies.
We have tons of proof on alien life, skeptics just refuse to look at it because they already have their minds made up.
All life forms were created by God of their own kind.
Stop listening to the lies people. There is no proof of evolution-only sugar coated talk.

All one need do is dive down to a tropical reef and take a good look around. It is hard to imagine that such beauty just evolved by accident in some primordial soup. It is more reasonable to believe that everything around us is indeed the work of a supreme creator, who used evolution as part of his(creation)building process.
For someone to believe that everything around us came about by accident from a shallow lake bed hit by a bolt of lightning, they would have to be suffering a deficiency of common sense, incapable of thinking beyond Physics blackboards. To believe in evolution alone; you would also have to believe that humans exist in a meaningless, irrational universe and that any search for order by mankind will bring us into direct conflict with this universe.
Evolutionist assume because everything evolved over billions of years, a supreme being most likely doesn't exist; for if a supreme being did exist, surly he would have been capable of creating mankind overnight. Why would this powerful being allow everything to evolve over billions of years?
Given their knowledge of how time works in the universe, it shouldn't be hard for evolutionist to acknowledge that creation is more of a possibility than they would care to believe or admit. They have to know that what mankind experiences as a billion years, may simply be a split second outside of our physical universe. There is simply no way of knowing. And if that is the case, God's 7 day creation starts to make sense. If a supreme creator does exist, I'm sure he didn't create this vast universe for our arrogant race alone. I'm sure life must be everywhere, seen and unseen.
Think of this; we all once existed safely in the wombs of our mothers,we felt safe, we were nurtured, and we were afraid to leave, because we were unsure of where we were going, and unaware of the world outside of our universe the womb. Think of this existence in the same way. When we die we will leave this womb to, and it will all be okay.
Remember; "Life is not ended, but merely changed".

Stephen Hawkins once said that our physics may only take us as far back as the moment of the big bang. He says that beyond that point, we would have to be capable of understanding the mind of God. Now that makes sense!, because our Physics and understanding of this universe, are most likely irrelevant beyond that point.

Do not tar everyone with the same brush. The internet allows us to think as one people, one organism. We don't want recognition, we don't want awards, we just want answers to the big questions. What's wrong with that, if the end result benefits all of mankind? Nobody lives forever. Chill. We are here, they are there. Believe!
