Is Highway 31 a good alternative to the Interstates when I'm going to Austin from Northern Louisiana? Is it fast? Any major delays at this time (08/10/09)?

Yes from Tyler to Waco, There is construction in corsicana, That is the only issue. Try not to drive through Corsicana in the afternoon between 2-4Pm on school days or Friday afternoons. World famous Collins street bakery in Corsicana is located on 31 too,
