In June, 1947, there was a major fire in a Texaco station in downtown Raton. I was a tourist with my parents & grandmother, coming from Austin, Texas, going to Cheyenne for the Frontier Days Rodeo. My mother, my granddmother, & I were inside that station when it caught fire, as were a middle-aged couple from Montana. If anyone has any details on that fire--exact date, name of owner of station, name of Raton's mayor & fire chief at that time, or any other details at all, please respond to me.
