In February 1916 a bill was introduced in the U S Congress to create a national defense highway from Los Angeles to Jacksonville running through the "Deep South". In 1925, this became U S Hightway 90, including the "Old Spanish Trail".
The West Pascagoula River Bridge at Gautier opened just prior to March 1918.
In August 1928 the dedication of the East Pascagoula River Bridge tood place and in June 1930 the dedication of the Biloxi-Ocean Springs Bridge.
A lot of dredging had to take place for Highway 90 to be built.
Did the Corps of Engineers do the dredging, or was a private dredging company hired?
If the Corps of Engineers, what was the name of the dredge that was used?
If a private dredging company, what was the name of that company, and possibly the name of its dredge?
Any assitance with these questions will be appreciated.
