In 1953, when I was 12, my parents put me on an overnight train to travel alone to Edinburgh from either Coventry (where we were living) or Birmingham. I am assuming it was en route from Euston in London, where the overnight sleeper starts today. Does anyone know what this train might have been? Would it have been the Caledonian Express? And where was I most likely to have been picked up from, Coventry, or the larger city just 20 miles away?
I would be grateful for any help, and swiftly.
Many thanks,
AJ
