In 1947 in an area five miles west of Edinburg, Va., which is in the Shenandoah Valley known for its civil war history, I found a Colt Model 1860 revolver. I have had it ever since. Now after 24 yrs military and 20 yrs law enforcement I would like for someone to give me an idea as to its worth. It is missing the trigger and the loading lever. The hammer is loose. All four serial numbers match they are 52498. It was buried under about 18 inches of dirt when I found it. The grips are still intact and in good condition. No one in this area, which is hard to believe, can give me an approximate value. Perhaps someone out there can.
Thanks........
