In 1802, Henry Muhlenberg was working with William Hamilton of the Woodlands in Philadelphia, attempting to propagate and cultivate the Buffalo Nut, a newly found plant, which was eventually named Pyrularia pubera Michx, but Muhlenberg named the plant in 1804 in honor of Hamilton, not realizing it had been preceeded by Michaux' work. Where will one find Henry Muhlenberg's papers from this era?
