I'm working on a novel and part one is set in 1951 at ROF Bridgwater. Who would have been guarding it then? I know it was guarded by the MOD police from 1971 but I need the name of the force in place then, if they had one. And, would they have had own uniforms and ranks?

In 1951 the Royal Ordnance Factories were guarded by the War Department Constabulary - WDC.
At that time the factories formed part of the Ministry of Supply. The latter was formed in 1939 and took over the then existing ROFs from the War Department. The WDC remained in charge of site security
