If provinces are ranked with attributes from 1 to 10- 1 being the most eastern point to 10 being the most western point of Canada- are they ordinal or are they nominal variables?
I was told no because we are not saying one is better than the other- yet we rank political views, for example with attributes such as 1-liberal views,2- somewhat liberal view, 3-somewhat conservative and 4-conservative views and classify it as an ordinal variable- but were not saying that conservative views are better than liberal?
If anyone can provide an answer with a reference (citation) to this question -I would truly appreciate it
