If I understand correctly, Parkman Township was first settled in 1804 and at that time was either attached to, or was part of, Batavia Township, Trumbull County (now Middlefield Township, Geauga County). In 1806, when Geauga County was created, the area comprising Parkman Township became part of Burton Township (Pioneer and General History of Geauga County, 1880, p. 468 and 674).

Can someone tell me the year in which the Parkman area ceased being part of Burton Township? In what year was it organized (began functioning on its own)?

Thanks to anyone who has the answers!
