If I remember correctly there was a tv commercial with Mr. Sorvino back in 1969? The ad was for hair cream, he walks in a neighborhood soda shop and says "hey, Mr.Gooch anybody asking about me?" and Gooch says "no Paulie nobody is asking for you!!" It seems because Paulie still has this slick type of hair, which was falling out of fashion back then....does anyone remember this ad? or did I dream it??

I remember this commercial crystal clear, like I just saw it. It took place in an ice cream parlor. The ghost of a 1950s juvenile delinquent, complete with black leather motorcycle jacket and oily pompadour walked in and approached the mean-looking man behind the counter.

"Hey Mr. Gooch! Anyone been askin' for me?"

The mean-looking server frowned and said,

"Ain't nobody been askin' for you in years."

I remember this ad. In fact, it was a Google search of "Hey Mister Gooch" that lead me to your 2012 post. I didn't remember that it was actor Paul Sorvino who played "Greasy Phil" who walked into the candy store run by (I think) the actor Ned Glass (Doc-the store owner in West Side Story) and said it. I remember the response. "Philly, nobody's asked about you for years" followed by Phil's sad shrug and retreat into the oblivion shared by those who still wore the '50's style slick-back 'do. The ad was, I think, part of "the wet head is dead" ad campaign by Gillette's Dry Look hair spray. Anyway, every few years I take a shot at You Tube and Google looking for the ad. Hope to see it again some day.

Found it. Link below. Looks like it was Paul Sorvino. I was wrong about Ned Glass.
