I wonder what is wrong with Mark, or what happened in his childhood, that made him start down the path of a serial killer. Any ideas?

This is such an interesting question. I have always wondered why such people turn out the way they do--you know, the nature vs. nuture debate. I have read that studies of prison inmates have shown that such violent people have an extra male chromosome (X or Y or whichever it is) and therefore extra testosterone. Yet, this is also true for many of the most "powerful" athletes (boxers, hockey players, etc.,)--and they don't turn out to be violent killers. I personally believe that a lot of a person's character is developed as a child with influences such as parents, culture, society, etc., But that can't possibly apply to everyone. Good debate, perhaps we'll never know.

I belive that maybe his parents were abusing him so he turned from abusee to abuser. Maybe that wasn't even the first person he killed? By the way he took Griffin's death, I think he has killed more. Griffin's death was a everybody point at each other, he said she said death. It was where nobody could really take all the blame, but they all had a hand in it, therefore they all put the blame on someone else. Overall though, Mark is the culprit who was caught with his bloody hands in Griffin's cooky jar.

So you think that between the cat killings in seventh grade to senior year, he has graduated to actual human killings? I can see that. I just seemed so cool and calm about Mr. G's death that it is hard to think otherwise.

Yes it does. How twisted do you have to be to burn a cat?

Maybe he had a few pets, then he accidentely killed one and he enjoyed it. I don't think this is the reason but it is an idea!

MAYBE he was training to be a serial killer, in a way. Maybe he wanted to be one all along, but didn't know how he would handle the situation. So... He started killing smaller beings and slowly progressed until he was accustomed enough to killing, so that he could kill a human. Wow... I don't like my thought process haha!
