I was a member of VMFA-531 during the period of 1963- 1966. We were a part of Marine Air Group 11. I have been told, and have actually seen a letter that MAG 11 was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for their service in Vietnam. I have searched a number of sources on the web and have not been able to find,or confirm, any mention of this award. Can you tell me me if indeed it was awarded and if so, how do I get a copy of the actual award. I have also been told the Navy Unit Commendation Medal was also awarded. How would I also get a copy of this??
Thank you for any help you may provide.

John Jennings, I served as an Ordnanceman with VMFA 531 TAD during the Cuban Crises at NAS Key West (twice). And later transferred to 531 for its Far East Cruise 1964/65, and released from active duty at El Toro on 531's return to USA.
I also had heard we were awarded a Presidential Unit Citation
and another citation, I have seen a photo of this on a 531 web site. Recently for a VA claim I sent for my military records, and there was no mention of neither, only Expeditionary, and the Vietnamese Cross for Galantry with Palm Leaf. I currently live in Granada, Nicaragua, and am looking for other Ordnancemen who witnessed an accident I had when my hand was smashed under a #250 lb bomb at Da Nang, I have been in touch with Frank Huntly of Idaho, who has written a letter of support for my claim, but apparently not enough for the VA.
