I vividly recall an observation made by Eric Hoffer, but am only half-sure it was in a TV interview in the late sixties, and I can't find the exact quote anywhere. The gist of it was: "England reminds me of an old man, a ruined aristocrat who is shocked to discover in his old age how poor and pitiful he is." Does anyone recognize this comment? Can anyone point me to the forum and exact quote? (I'm anxious to find the quote as it introduces a historical parallel for something I'm writing.) -- David Bittinger, Brookfield, WI
