I vaguely recall there being a cover version of Summer in the City, perhaps in the mid to late 70s, which I remember hearing again in 1982 (couldn't say if it was re-released then). It was an up-beat version (quicker than the original) that started with American-style police sirens.

Wondered if anyone remembered that version; and if so, who sang it.
