Flail chest

I suffered a very bad accident on July 17th 2010 when a car caused my horse to fall on top of me on a tarmac road. I was airlifted to hospital. My injuries were life threatening and very much concentrated on the 8cm tear im my liver, a haemapneumothorax & duodenal perforation. Not surprisingly, I also suffered multiple rib fractures, several of which were fractured in multiple places, producing fairly substantial flail segments. Glad to say that the worst of the injuries have healed well. However, the ribs are still causing me great discomfort. The right side of my chest is quite deformed now with a concave area. I cannot lie on either my right or left side, making sleeping difficult. It hurts to take a deep breath and I constantly feel pressure & discomfort on my right side when breathing. My GP has said that nothing can really be done to fix this. Does anyone know of any treatment that would help?
