I recently purchased a Japanese Red Maple. I live in the tropics and so far I am having great success with this healthy little plant. It stands about 12 inches high and is healthy. Since I purchased this tree about 6 weeks ago, it has 'flowered' (twice) but I can find no info on the flowers of this tree. I have had these trees in USA & UK but never seen a flower. The flower is the same color as the leaves, delicate with a cup shaped four petal formation. It is of very short duration appearing very early in the morning for approximately 2 hours then closing and dying off as soon as the sun is fully up. I do of course have pictures.
Have I lived in northern climes for the past 60 years and simply been too busy to SEE? Love to hear about this.

You are very lucky, I have been trying to grow Japaneese maple trees for about 3 years. Mine have either died or remain at 3".
I live in the midwest, maybe not the best place.
I would say, if you are flowering, it means you are providing Ideal conditions.
I am also trying to grow ginko trees from seed for the second year. I am in the process now.
