I recently bought an ADAT machine, Type II 20-bit on ebay, with the hopes of transferring recordings from old ADAT tape masters, into my computer.

The machine says that all my tapes are No FO, i.e. no formatting. I tried rewinding to the beginning, and I reinitialized the software. I find it hard to believe that these tapes would all be unformatted. Since it's the most advanced version of the ADAT machine, it should be able to read tapes no matter what machine they were recorded on, right?

Is there something else I can do with this machine to get it to recognize the format on the tapes? Do you know any ADAT experts who I could ask?
