I need to create scripts (similar to irc) that I can type a few characters and have text appear. For instance if I type /nguest then I get a message on the screen that says "Welcome guest, please choose a nick by typing /nick NewNickHer"

How would I go about writing something like this? I'm used to mirc and I can do this easily there. Just started using colloquy for my new mac computer.
