Broomrape

I live in the Lot département of SW France.

I sometimes find broomrapes whose host appears to be an Eryngo, perhaps Eryngium campestre.

I find no references to this host plant for any member of the Orobanchaceae. And yes, I know that the host plant can't always be seen, but I see this several times each year. The broomrape isn't a blue one. (I have seen Branched broomrape in SW France - this blue.)

Any comments?

I wasn't too sure how this topic relates to astronomy, but someone will no doubt enlighten me .....

This could be Orobanche amethystea which is specific to eryngiums. However, Orobanche minor is another possibility which occurs on several different species and can parasitise eryngiums as well.
