I know this is a long question, but please bear with me. My Dad was in the 188th, 11th Airborne Division support company. He was a paratrooper out of Cambell KY. He always told me that he was at nuclear testing, and I was wondering if this was it. He has passed due to two bouts with cancer and I can't ask him, my mom and brother have also passed due to cancer and I am a 5 year cancer survivor. I would love to create a history for my kids and would love to give them the right information. I know when we tried to get his records from the army, they said they were destroyed in a fire. Can anyone help me.

I happen to be researching this test as well. I think you have the right test. My grandfather was involved with this test as a platoon sergeant with the 188th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 11th Airborne Division. They deployed to Korea very shortly after the tests. Unfortunately he has passed on.

Are you familiar with the National Association of Atomic Veterans? They may be able to give you more information or point you in the right direction.

Here is their newsletter with a story about the tests.
