Nuclear proliferation

I just want to know if anyone knows what just lit up the night sky tonight ( 6/21/10 ) at 11:00 pm central time. I've experienced a similar event some years ago when Regan was president and the Starwars program was being tested. Although "Starwars" was denied as to ever exist, I am at a loss as to explain nighttime turning to day without some type of nuclear detonation in the upper atmosphere. This flash of extreme brightness wasn't caused by lightening....not a cloud in the sky and not caused by fireworks....this covered the sky and had no sound. Is someone experimenting with a nuclear device?????

Relax it's just the Earth's mag field sparkling...in northern lats its called Aurora Bourealis. The high amount of solar flares affects the mag field.
If they were screwing with nukes in the upper atmosphere we'd all know pretty quick. It would screw with cell phones and television and anything else coming from the satellites to say nothing of the effects of fallout circulating in the troposphere...now there's a joyous thought
