I just found out that our home is located where there were nickel mines years ago. We have been experiencing what feels like "explosions" under our home. They do not seem like earthquakes to us, but the local paper cited earthquakes as the cause. Is it possible that after many years a mine could be having some type of explosions?

I won't for a minute waste your time and say I have anything to offer except this. Have you contacted any seismoligists in your area or the local zoning board et al.? I don't know what country you are in but I would start with one of these entities and file a FOIA(freedom of information act) request if in the USA. If not, your country has comparable agencies, most likely. Good luck.
