I just bought a 2002 gmc 2500 4x4 and it whines. Is this normal

The whine noise at idle is more noticeable with the 8.1 gas engine vs the Duramax diesel and is normal. Transmission main pressure is 230 psi at idle. Allison in 2004 reduce this pressure to aruond 100 psi for this reason.
