Longcase clock

I inherited our family's long case clock - my pride and joy. It has been in my father's family for a long time and now I am trying to to identify:

1. The oval painting which shows 4 wool sacks with painted on the top sack R.M.H. No. 45, a latice laced window, tiled floor, the bar for weighing and a sheep suspended from the ceiling but obviously alive

and

2. Under the date dial, it is marked JNo Jaques - Wakefield.

The mechanism is circa 1770/1780 and the long case would be dated approximately late 18th century too. The numbers are roman but the number 4 is IIII. It is a pretty painted dial with moving susidiary seconds and date dials (one month).

Please can any one help me to identify JNo (junior?) Jaques of Wakefield and to throw some light on the meaning of suspended sheep and wool sacks. My father's family came from Yorkshire which is a sheep farming county.
