I have two Webley revolvers.

One is an RIC model in excellent condition, probably re-blued,but chambers and barrel seem as new.I believe I see a proof for Birmingham and a proff for black powder. Also, there seems to be a third proof with a NP under a crown, but the first part of the N is missing, perhaps a mis-strike. Is this gun likely to be chambered for modern powder? The piece is marked Webley & Scott Birmingham

I also have a much older Webley, model 1952NSW. Worn finish but solid chambers and and barrel. A heavier piece than the RIC
On this pistol I only see the BV for Birmingham and a black powder proof mark. It is marked 450 I think. I suppose I can not use modern powder cartridges on this one?

Any good info will be appreciated.

You can use modern powder in not proofed guns, BUT with sense.
You can blow up a cylin der in a modern handgun just as in
an old one if you overload. From the powder companies you
probably never get load information for oldies (Liability).
But they produce powder like for example Trailboss, hard to overload with this one.
If you are new to reloading forget this, and stay with "normal" ammo.
