Shogun (novel)

I have read the novels "Shogun" and "Tai-Pan" and I do have some questions, but I will start with one. The term "Anjin San"; what does this name entitlement to a person mean. I mean in Chinese culture and tradition it has a significant definition however I cannot remember what it is. Could you please refresh my memory a little bit? Thankyou very much! Tim Bofferding
